The Impact of Cell Phones on Romantic Relationships

There hasn’t been a ton of research on how cell phones impact relationships, but as more and more people become addicted to their mobile phones it is becoming clear that the impact of this addiction is being felt negatively by people who are in their lives including their romantic partner.

While there are a lot of advantages to having a smartphone, but as with most things, obsessive use can lead to major problems including but not limited to behavioral changes like poor communication, social isolation, and abusive behavior.

The addicted partner can show controlling behavior toward their loved one by constantly wanting to be aware of their location. The amount of abuse and threatening texts by those in a romantic relationship through the medium of cell phones has seen a marked increase recently. Constantly monitoring the social media activity of the romantic partner can also lead to conflicts.

All these types of behavior put’s a strain on a relationship. Self-restraint, clear communication, and moderation are keys to ensuring that your relationship does not fall a victim to cell phone addiction.
