Today’s hectic life style is putting us all under a lot of undue stress, which has started to manifest in all aspects of our day to day life. If unchecked these can lead to depression, exhaustion, nervous breakdown, strokes and even heart attack. If you are under a lot of stress, it will affect not only your work but also your family and friends.
Here are a few simple tips on how to control your stress levels, so that you can be able to live a happier and productive life.
1. Control your breathing: This most natural and instinctive of human functions also has the ability to lower your stress levels. Whenever you are feeling stressed, just try to breathe deeply, this simple act will help to relax you.
2. Do light exercise: You don’t need to do follow a rigorous exercise regime; all you need to do are light exercises like yoga which you can do early in the morning or in the evening depending on your daily routine, start with just a few minutes a day and feel your stress levels dropping off.
3.Write down the things that worry you: The simple act of writing down the list of worries that are causing you stress, will give you the ability to identify and prioritize your most pressing problems. This in turn will help you find solutions for them and give you a better perspective on how difficult these are and if worrying about them is even worth it.
4.Track your worst fears: This goes hand in hand with the preceding tip, of all your worries, try tracking the worst ones for a few weeks and more than likely you would be surprised with the results, in my own case,the outcome of my worst fears have turned out to be much less frightening than what I had thought they would be.
5. Prioritize your goals: You should make a list of all your professional and personal goals, aim high but make sure they are realistic and achievable, try fleshing out new ideas and keep a track of these and ever so often backtrack to analyze your progress and re-evaluate your progress and make appropriate changes wherever needed.
Remember a lot of the stress that we deal with are of our own making, and these simple but effective tips will help alleviate your stress levels and help you become a more confident and contented person.
